Alongside control treatments, we recommend taking preventative measures to keep your pet flea and itch-free. You can do this by regularly cleaning your pet’s environment, washing their bedding and vacuuming or sweeping away any debris. It’s also important to use a flea comb and remove any fleas or eggs if you find them in your pet’s fur. If your four-legged friend already has fleas, spot-on treatments are available and will kill these parasites upon contact.
While the best way to prevent your pet from getting ticks is to use control medication, there are other important steps to take for keeping your beloved family member free from these dangerous parasites.
You should regularly perform full-body checks and inspect their underbelly, neck and inside their legs. If you find a tick, remove it immediately with tweezers. You should also keep your cat or dog away from heavily wooded areas or tall grass, as these are common habitats for ticks. Lastly, keep your yard clean and free of debris where ticks can hide.
